"I think my dad talked about this decades later as a sort of coming-of-age story, or maybe a way to try and show (like all dads) that He Was Cool Once Too." - this made me burst into tears and I didn't quite know why. I'm that dad, like my dad, and dads before us. At the end of it all we just want to have been someone our children admire - or even just remember some story fondly from time to time- ...and have been a good dad.

I can't imagine spending $500 on a concert by someone whose music I didn't already love, but your post about it was very informative. (A couple of my adult kids did indeed spend significantly more than that to see her in Seattle.)

The daughter of a good friend was also at the Lisbon concert (all the way from toronto)....I will send this excellent write-up to him....you made the right choice, Justin....$500 is nothing compared to an experience you will always remember....besides, once the money is spent, you barely notice it 6 months later...Plus, it was in Lisbon, a truly great city! 10 out of 10, my man.
